the Bali trip

6 days of my life was spent in this place called Bali, one of the islands of indonesia. and boy did me and 3 of my other friends enjoy ourselves. that place, in contrast to Singapore, is laid back and relaxed…people were dressed in board shorts and singlets and walking around in the town and just absorbing the mini hustle and bustle of that little city called Kuta, the best surf location in bali.

Mubin, JT, Brendan (ok maybe just mubin) and myself planned, paid and executed the whole trip and enjoyed the fruits of our labour…it was a totally R&R trip…we did what we wanted when we wanted but we still had fun and did some things that we could not do in singapore…like white water rafting and surfing and looking at awesome sights…and getting things snatched away by monkeys in the process…lol.

i’ve always wanted to go to bali and i’ve always wanted to surf…and i’m really glad i did. the pictures tell the whole story…from the check-in to the first day in town as we burnt under the hot sun to the rafting to the surfing to the temples and kechak dance to dinner by the beach to more surfing to finding cheap food in the street corner to watching HBO in the hotel room to the bargaining to the long sleepy rides in the car to mubin’s now-more-expensive glasses to…everything. awesome.

pretty happy we got to do everything on our own…pictures are in facebook.

Poverty

Poverty is a big problem all around the world. For us Muslims who practice fasting, we can feel their hunger and their thirst. The difference is, we can eat and drink all we want after we break fast after dusk.

They, be it man, woman, girl, boy, father, mother, sister, child, baby, grandparents…they have to live through it every single day.

Let our voices be heard. Help the people in need.

my camera is my weapon

i hope that my future posts will be filled with pictures, as many as this post…see how far project 365 will last…

my camera is my weapon! and i went hunting today…

IMG_4519

so i woke up SUPER EARLY today cuz its my sister’s first day at her new workplace…see the pic on the right? that’s the sun shining from the EAST. i RARELY see the sun from the east. i usually see it in the middle of the sky or from the west. cuz i’m usually still fast asleep at this time.

IMG_4520

this is just a pic i took that i think is nice…i like rain trees…they look majestic…hmm.

IMG_4523

so then we were travelling along BKE and BAM! we were stuck in the jam…time check – 0735hrs. what time did we reach PIE? 0800hrs. it was congested all the way till the PIE exit. just pure bad luck for my sis la…haha. there was a small accident at the end of BKE…so the normal Singaporean driver reaction is to? slow down and be a K-PO. onward! more jams ahead…

IMG_4528

that’s where my sis works now…Hewlett Packard. did i spell it right? she just started so let me wish her ALL THE BEST in the new job and i hope she enjoys it…even though she has to go through morning traffic…like every morning from now on…and wake up super early on top of that…lets hope you dont end up at the wrong place again after taking the bus ok?

IMG_4529

so this is where i had breakfast…with my mum and dad. i think that’s my mum’s favourite shop or something…cuz they sell beef noodles and they’re fat free…do you know where that is? its opposite harbourfront…but i ate mee soto…super yummy.

IMG_4530

so then after breakfast we headed out to get a replacement filament thing for my mum’s oven…if you dont know yet, she bakes AWESOME cookies and hari raya kueh…and i think that filament is super important to her. we headed to sim lim tower and i found out that that place is an electrician’s dream. you can find almost anything that’s related to electronic stuff there…wires, bulbs, push buttons, switches, batteries, plugs, alarms, sirens, loud hailers…you get my drift. so after being smothered by those stuff, your truly drove the car down to mustafa centre. my mum wanted to do a bit of shopping here and there and i guess i did a bit too…got myself an AWESOMELY AWESOME camera case which has a mini screw on top of it so that it acts as a tripod too! what an ingenious idea…

but anyway, the photography site i found said that you should bring your camera everywhere you go…and so i did…try. one of them was to the grocery store…foods have great textures which you can take pictures of…so i tried. here are my attempts.

ok enough of food stuff already…after the mustafa walkabout, i met JT and Brendan for lunch and to change money for our Bali trip! we went to THREE different money changers to get the best rates…and they found one…this will go down in history…my first bali trip!!!

lomofied and finally its Mr. Jon Tang and myself, outside starbucks raffles plaza, lomofied using photoshop.

Project 365 launch

i found something interesting when i was surfing a photography website on the net…its about taking at least one picture a day to describe the day…not only does it allow you to be better with your camera, it also allows me to make my day way more interesting that it just is…most of the time when you sit in front of your computer and want to blog, you dont have much content…well for me at least. now as i take pictures throughout my day…i get to recall it so clearly and take very interesting stuff in the process. i will dedicate a page on my blog to post all the pictures of project 365 and also another page for the floor shots…you’ll know what i mean…

shoot em up

bloody hell just before i’m going to bali, my camera has some mysterious dots on the screen. it shows on the camera screen but it doesnt show in the pictures…which is good.

talking about pictures, i found a site for photography…its not excellent but it has some awesome tips on photography itself and photo editing…www.photojojo.com…good site.

found a site where you can practically use photoshop for free too…but its web based. which makes it more awesome. you can even edit photos for facebook, almost directly. i think. here’s the link – Photoshop.com – Create and learn, get ideas, and share your work

another site is an interesting one…take fun and ridiculous looking pics…easy to take, fun to make…sort of. – Jowlers.com | Shake It Up
