bits and pieces

i have been so lacking sleep these past few days and i really need to start sleeping early…i am really gonna sleep right after i finish this post…i wish i had a more comfortable sleeping area at work cuz i sleep during lunchtime but i have to sleep on my work chair and its not really comfortable cuz i dun really have space to stretch my long legs and stuff…so yeah. :(

went for police hockey training just now and guess what? there were only 4 people who went for the training…its less fun but we still had training nonetheless…didi offered me to catch sweeny todd’s sneak preview plus we’ll get free popcorn but i turned her down. haha…loyalty to hockey! hahaha…no la…just that its the only training for the week and i need to be consistent at my hockey…top scorer what…LOL. i really want a composite…it will definitely make my sweeps harder and the stick will be lighter…haiz…but i need to save up for that.

talking about saving up, i think i’m gonna change the number 1 item on my wishlist from a PSP to an iPod. my eyes are already getting short-sighted cuz of the com and the PSP will definitely not help. games AND videos? my eyes will be doomed. hence it will be changed to an iPod Classic. PLUS the stereo system that i can put in my room…ooohh…yummy. but then, i’d rather get a good pair of headphones so i can use them…my family will surely complain if i blast my music too loud…hmmm….i’m in a dilemma already…

two people talked to me today and it seems that both of them are facing a certain amount of stress or they are just plain thinking too much. i can be a great listening ear and counsellor, have i mentioned that? but some things, people have to settle internally. there is no two ways about that. some things you need to realise for yourself and not from others realising them for you…but if anybody needs a listening ear, i’ll be glad to help.

my gig is coming this sat and i dont feel like we’re having a gig at all. i mean, we havent been jamming and not a lot of people are going (as usual) so its like another practice session or something…oh well. see how it goes la.

my dad offered to get me the mass-gaining powder thing from GNC or something…it would really be helpful in achieving my goal of having the not-scrawny look. but i need to do some intensive gymming for around three weeks or something…hmmm….but i guess it’ll all be worth it… :)

sorry if the entries are short and sweet and straight to the point…i always type late and night…maybe i should start typing in the office too!!

Saosin – “Voices”

I miss the part, when we were moving forward now
On our way down
But maybe someday, I’ll be something more than love
Just know I’ll never tell

And when you’re on your way down
[Through the clouds]
And you’re waiting for your body’s re-entry again

We speak in different voices
When fighting with the ones we’ve loved
We speak in different voices
Why can’t we say what we’re thinking of

I’m missing parts, now that you’ve told me everything
On our way down
And I was blessed and I’ve forgotten how to love
You said you’d never tell

And when you’re on your way down
And you’re waiting for your body’s re-entry again

We speak in different voices
When fighting with the ones we’ve loved
We speak in different voices
Why can’t we say what we’re thinking of

Not even I will tell,

We speak in different voices
When fighting with the ones we’ve loved
We speak in different voices
We say these things to know they’re real.

We speak in different voices
When fighting with the ones we’ve loved
We speak in different voices
Why can’t we say what we’re thinking of

We speak in different voices
when fighting with the one’s we’ve loved
We speak in different voices
We speak in different voices
To know why you’re crying

Crying…
I’ll never

catch my attention, wear black.

on the way home from hockey today, i noticed two things. one is that sony is making tons of money from JUST selling PSPs and two, people who wear black just look really good. be it guys or girls.

i was sitting on the train on the way back when i saw three guys around me in close proximity playing with their PSPs. and those are the ones who took them out to play them…what about the ones who didnt take their PSPs out?? hahaha…i also saw at least three people wearing ALL black. and i must say that they do look really good. i mean, i love the colour myself and i think almost anyone can look really good if they wear black. maybe i’m biased but if you wanna catch my attention, wear black. all black.

had a hockey match just now at delta. it was our second game and also our second win. i scored two today, final score 3-0. one goal was deflection from a free hit outside the scoring D and the other was a tap in from in front of the goal mouth, the ball coming in from the right. i tapped the ball between a defender and the goalkeeper. hope we can keep this form up… :)

10 Quick Fixes to make your Computer run Faster

Your computer running Windows isn’t running in the same speed that it used to run when you first used it. It’s slower, crappy, takes a while to start and tests your patience like anything. There are many reasons for this, let’s try fixing up a few things on your slow Windows PC:

Slow Start Up
There can be a variety of reasons to Windows loading slow during start up. Go to Run, type msconfig and hit enter. Under the ‘Start Up’ tab, uncheck the unwanted programs and press OK. Things should be a bit fine the next time Windows boots.

Another program worth mentioning here is StartUp Delayer which will help in setting after how much time programs should be loaded after Windows boots. For instance, you could set your instant messenger to load 50 seconds after Windows starts up.

Slow Loading Start Menu
If the Start Menu items are loading slowly, you can open the Registry Editor by typing in the Run menu ‘regedit.exe’ and pressing Enter. Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop. Look for MenuShowDelay, and double click to edit the value. The lower the number specified, the faster the Start Menu will load.

Slow Right Click Context Menu
Probably the Windows Right Click menu on your computer is loading slow because too many programs added unwanted entries there. Just download this program called Mmm, install it and then modify your context menu to remove unwanted items to speed it up.

'Send To' Menu Slow Send To Menu
If the Send To menu loads slowly, you can type ’sendto’ in the Run Dialog, and remove unwanted items in the Explorer Window that appears. This should add some speed to it.

Slow Defragmentation
The Windows Defragmenter can’t get any slower. You need to have an alternative to the Windows Defragmenter, and Defraggler is just one of the best ones available in the market. It’s free, and works like a charm and can speed up defragmentation manifold. For some alternatives, see Five Free Programs to Defragment your PC.

Slow loading My Computer Window
my-computer.jpg If the My Computer Window loads slowly, in the Explorer Window, go to Tools >> Folder Options >> View and uncheck ‘Automatically search for network folders and printers”

Slow loading Add or Remove Programs Applet
This is one of the most annoying piece of programs present in Windows, it takes ages to load if you have a considerable number of programs installed on your computer. You can either use the all-in-one CCleaner for this purpose, or get MyUninstaller that comes as a speedy replacement for Add or Remove Programs.

Slow Ending of Unresponsive Programs
If you’ve clicked on ‘End Task’ if any program is running unresponsive, you might have noticed that the program is not terminated immediately. You can alter this by going to Run >> regedit.exe >> HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\ and change this value to 1000.

Disable Animations and Appearance Overhauls to maximize performance
If you’re a serious performance junkie, you probably won’t bother about eyecandy. Go to System Properties in the Control Panel. Click ‘Advanced’, then ‘Performance’ and click ‘Adjust for best performance’. This might boost your PC’s performance up a bit.

Additional Tips:

- Always keep your computer clean. Remove Junk and Unnecessary registry entries. Use CCleaner for this purpose, one excellent tool that just does what it says.

- Don’t keep installing software. Install a program only if it really serves you a purpose.

- Keep as less programs as possible running on the System Tray. This essentially means reducing the number of programs that start during Windows start up.
